• What is a TENS Unit?

TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) is a common tool long used to help with the pain of childbirth across Europe.

Obstetric TENS has been found to be an effective technique for pain control in over 80 percent of births. Many studies have been done in Europe with marked success, especially for back pain in labor.

This is a great addition to your labor support skill set and will increase client satisfaction and reduce pain, quickly becoming one of your favorite methods for helping your clients cope and handle childbirth pain, especially that dreaded back labor!

  • About this training

Learn how to add this tool/skill to your birth bag and help your clients to reduce labor pain, especially the pain of back labor.

Get a chance to try a unit on yourself, learn the proper protocols on safe use, how to introduce it to your clients and their providers, and purchase your own unit for use with your clients after the training.

You do not need to be a certified or experienced doula to attend any of these sessions; you do need to have completed a basic doula training or be in midwifery or nursing school.
