Certification is NOT required to work as a doula...

However...

Many organizations that contract with or hire doulas require you to be certified.

Why certify with Becoming a Birth Doula?

If you are considering certification, consider this:

The Becoming a Birth Doula certification program ensures doulas are able to safely and appropriately serve childbearing families and make an impact in the world.

What distinguishes Becoming a Birth Doula’s certification from other certification programs is the focus on:

- racial and social justice awareness
- human and birthing people’s rights
- inclusivity of all gender expressions
- empowerment of birthing people
- an understanding of the politics of birth

What are the certification requirements?

These are the high-level requirements:

1. Complete the Becoming a Birth Doula course
